Ceremony & Evening
While the wedding takes place on Sunday, we invite you to spend a few days with us, and make it a weekend affair!
Why St. Jacobs?
Picking a location turned out to be a bit of a geography exercise. Most of the bride's family are in Windsor (where we live now) and the Niagara region, and the groom's side is in Eastern Ontario, with plenty of relatives and friends scattered everywhere in between. Holding the wedding at either end of the province would have meant a very long drive for half of you, so we went looking for somewhere roughly in the middle that was easy to get to, wouldn't break the bank, and gave everyone a reason to make a weekend of it.
St. Jacobs checked every box, and it also happens to be an area we both have history with. The groom spent his undergrad years at the University of Waterloo just down the road, and the bride and her family have enjoyed family trips to St. Jacobs and nearby Elora (ask the bride about her battle with the rapids at the Gorge). It felt like a fitting place to bring both families together.
We hope you'll arrive early or stay a little longer to explore the village, wander the market, spend some extra time with us, and see why we're so fond of the area.

Garden party attire. Don’t shy away from (tasteful) colours! We want a fun, light and non-monochromatic wedding. Please skip white and ivory as main colours. A large portion of the day is on grass, so wedges or block heels will keep you from sinking. Heel protectors will be available.
The names on your invitation are the people we’re hoping to see there! If you’ve got a plus one, the save the date and formal invitation will reflect that. If anything’s unclear, just text or email us.
While we love your little ones, the ceremony and reception are for adults only (special exceptions for the junior bridesmaid, flower girls, and ring bearer 😉).
Full details for the weekend will be shared with the formal invitation, but here's a rough idea so you can start planning.
With our families spread so far apart, it's very rare to have all of our people in one place, so we want to make the most of it and give everyone a chance to spend time together. We're hoping to host some optional activities on Saturday morning/afternoon that everyone is welcome to join. We also know schedules are busy and time is precious, so please don't worry if you can't make it to those extra activities.
Our rehearsal dinner is on Saturday evening, so that time is yours to grab dinner somewhere local and rest up before the main event.
Yes, parking will be available at the venue. Details will be shared with your formal invitation.
Yes, we will be providing a shuttle on Sunday. Additional details will be shared with your formal invitation.
The formal RSVP deadline will be shared with your invitation. For now, you can use the form on this page to let us know that you have saved the date.
Late June in St. Jacobs, Ontario is usually warm and pleasant, with highs around 22 to 28 degrees Celsius. Temperatures can drop a bit in the evenings. The ceremony will take place outdoors (weather permitting) followed by an al fresco dining experience (covered area, with fans and heaters as needed). The rest of the reception will take place indoors as well as on the outdoor patio, which features a beautiful fireplace.
We will be sharing a weekend itinerary with your formal invitation, which will include some activities around the town and some additional St. Jacobs recommendations. St. Jacobs is known for its famous Farmers' Market, Mennonite craft shops, playhouse, farm-to-table dining, and scenic trails. Elora is about 25 minutes away and is spectacular. Stratford, home to the Shakespeare Festival, is about 40 minutes away.
